I flew to Honolulu at 38 weeks of pregnancy and wanted to find a support person, because I felt anxious after my previous birth (there was both induction and anesthesia), and this time I wanted naturalness. Only when I heard Rashia’s voice did I realize that this was my type of person. Very kind, peaceful, she was always by my side and resolved all organizational issues! I'm usually very nervous, but I saw only confidence on Rashia's face, and it calmed me down. During the labor, she was able to put me into a state in which my body relieved some of the pain naturally - I still remember this with amazement. I also often remember Rashia’s genuine emotions when my daughter appeared - it was incredibly warm, sincere joy! After giving birth, Rashia was near and offered her help, I am very grateful to her. “Rashia was at our birth and what a great person she is!
We were soooo grateful to have her there supporting us… she was incredible. I swear she didn’t even sit down or take a break the entire 16 hours and I can’t imagine what I would have done without her. My back labor was so intense and she was there with counter-pressure for every contraction. She was so encouraging and supportive of my birth plan the entire time. She had so many extra tools (essential oils, massage balls, tens machine, sleep mask, crystals!) that made my birth experience extra special. I’m so grateful to have gotten the birth experience (an ambitious VBA2C) that I had envisioned and there’s no doubt her support played a huge role in that. Both the nurses and midwife sung her praises too! It was truly the best birth team and energy, beyond what I expected! It was as so nice to chat with her at our postpartum visit and recap it all — she feels like a part of our family.”
