Mercury Retrograde. What You Need To Know To Better Flow
It’s that time again! Mercury retrograde time. Probably the most hyped-up retrograde of all the planets because it happens 3 to 4 times a year, which is the most of any planet.
Mercury Retrograde is from May 29th until June 22nd. From now until mid-July we will be feeling the Mercury retrograde energies because of the shadow time. The shadow period is where the planet starts to slow and pause before going backward, so the energies start to build as it changes from its natural course.
What does Mercury retrograde mean?
Mercury rules Gemini, the sign of communication and technology. So, overall each time it retrogrades, it gives a shift in communication, technology, travel, and daily routines (ex: driving to work, shopping). During these periods these things can take more energy because the planet’s energy and momentum are no longer moving forward. Meaning, normally these things are seamless and go unnoticed but during a retrograde period, the unnoticed is more disrupted and calls for more attention, careful planning, and consideration. It can call for these small steps of a larger journey (ex flight or car services on a trip) to have more planning and focus. This can be welcome because Mercury rules smaller details in life and after a year + of seasons with large changes, small, detail-oriented changes can be a great refocus.
Each time mercury is in retrograde it is placed in an astrological house due to the time period it falls within. Lucky for us, this May 29th Mercury is retrograde in Gemini, which is where it is most at home. Yay! This means that for the most part, we shouldn’t have too many external travel or tech issues. However, Gemini (the sign of the ultimate communicators) will call us to look more internally and at ourselves in relationships.
What is Mercury Retrograde in Gemini Good for?
This is the ultimate time to review and revise. These time periods are gifts where we can coordinate and re-examine our plans, habits, and ideas that have not been completed yet. Even ones that have, if they can still be edited or changed. Pondering your mental habits and personal communication patterns are also very beneficial at this time.
